Terms of Use
Last updated: 18 July 2026
These terms are an agreement between you and Bako Bakhtyar Asaad ("we", "us") covering your use of the Majlis app. By creating an account or using Majlis, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use the service.
We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Content that breaks these rules is removed, and accounts that post it are suspended or terminated. Reports are reviewed within 24 hours.
1. Who can use Majlis
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you provide, for keeping your password secure, and for everything done through your account.
2. What Majlis is — and is not
Majlis lets people ask religious questions and receive answers from scholars and imams whose credentials we have reviewed. Verification means we have checked the credentials a scholar submitted. It is not an endorsement of every opinion they express.
Answers on Majlis are the personal religious opinions of the individual scholar who wrote them. They are not issued by us, and scholars may reasonably disagree with one another. Nothing on Majlis is legal, medical, financial or psychological advice. If you face a situation involving your health, your safety, your finances or the law, please consult a qualified professional in that field. If you are in immediate danger, contact your local emergency services.
3. Community rules
When you post a question, an answer, a comment or an image on Majlis, you agree not to submit content that:
- harasses, bullies, threatens or intimidates another person;
- attacks or demeans people on the basis of religion, ethnicity, nationality, gender, disability or sexual orientation;
- is sexually explicit, gratuitously violent, or otherwise objectionable;
- encourages violence, self-harm, or illegal activity;
- is spam, advertising, or a scam;
- impersonates a scholar, a religious authority, or any other person;
- shares another person's private information without their permission;
- infringes someone else's copyright or other rights.
Sincere questions about difficult or sensitive subjects are welcome — that is what Majlis is for. These rules are about abuse, not about subject matter.
4. Reporting and blocking
Every question, answer, post and profile can be reported from inside the app. You can also block any user, which hides their content from you and yours from them.
We review reported content within 24 hours. Where content breaks these rules we remove it, and depending on the severity and history we may suspend or permanently terminate the account responsible. We also apply automatic filtering to text submitted to the service.
5. Your content
You keep ownership of what you write. By posting on Majlis, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to store, display and distribute that content within the app for the purpose of operating the service. This licence ends when your content is deleted, except where it must be retained as described in our Privacy Policy.
You are responsible for what you post, and you confirm you have the right to post it.
6. Scholars
Scholars who are approved on Majlis agree to answer honestly and within their competence, to disclose the school of thought they follow when it is relevant, and to refrain from issuing rulings on matters requiring professional expertise they do not hold. We may revoke verification at any time.
7. Suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate an account that breaks these terms, that we reasonably believe is being used to harm others, or that is used to circumvent a previous suspension. You may delete your own account at any time from the settings screen in the app.
8. Availability
Majlis is provided as it is. We do not promise the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any particular question will receive an answer. We may change or discontinue features.
9. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss arising from your use of Majlis, or for any decision you take on the basis of an answer given by a scholar on the service. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law, including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence.
10. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands. If you are a consumer, you retain the protection of any mandatory provisions of the law of your country of residence.
11. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. When we make a material change, we will ask you to review and accept the updated terms in the app before continuing to use it.
